These Rudraksha beads are sourced from Rishikesh in the Himalayas. They have been immersed in the sacred waters of the Ganga and infused with mantra. Traditionally these are worn during meditation, but can be worn any time. They are said to provide protection to the wearer and are particularly suitable for those who travel, since they are reputed to surround the wearer with a cocoon of their own energy. They are sacred to Shiva. They may be restrung on silk, or on wire of silver or gold. Or they can be worn as they are. These are a small size (5c coin shows scale) with the traditional 108 beads, plus the Meru bead at the apex. They are probably too small for japa (mantra repetition like rosary beads), but would be ideal worn in a single strand around the neck for women. The beads have 5 faces (panch mukhi).
